Overview
The Lumitec Contour Series is a navigation and docking combination light that pairs a U.S. Coast Guard approved 2 nautical mile navigation output with a 1,000 lumen white flood for close-in work at the dock.
It runs on 10-30 VDC systems (12V or 24V) and the navigation and flood functions can be powered independently, so you can keep your running lights on without turning on the docking light.
This is a practical fit when you want fewer fixtures on a hardtop, arch, or cabin side, while still keeping the correct port or starboard color output.
Key features
- U.S. Coast Guard approved navigation light rated to 2 nautical miles
- 1,000 lumen white flood output for docking and close-range illumination
- 10-30 VDC input for 12V and 24V boats
- Separate power leads for navigation and flood functions with a shared negative
- Flood current draw: 1.3A at 12V and 600mA at 24V
- Navigation current draw: 25mA at 12V and 15mA at 24V
Variants
This series is offered in two output configurations for port and starboard installations.
The electrical input (10-30 VDC), 2 nautical mile navigation rating, and 1,000 lumen white flood output stay the same across the range; the navigation color changes to match the mounting side.
- 101839: Starboard navigation output (green) with flood white docking light. Mount on the starboard side so the green sector faces forward and remains visible from the correct arc.
- 101849: Port navigation output (red) with flood white docking light. Mount on the port side so the red sector faces forward and remains visible from the correct arc.
Installation and wiring
These lights accept 10-30 VDC input. The red lead powers the navigation function, the orange lead powers the white flood, and the black lead is the shared negative.
Most installs run the navigation lead to the running-light switch and the flood lead to a separate docking-light switch or relay. Size wiring and circuit protection for the load on the flood circuit, then seal connections and support the cable to handle spray, vibration, and routine washdowns.
Compatibility and placement
Mount the port or starboard unit where the lens is not blocked by rails, canvas, or hardtop structure, and where the colored sector is aimed correctly for navigation use. Keep the flood beam out of the operator’s line of sight to reduce glare and reflections back into the helm at night.
This setup is a good match for boats that need a 2 nautical mile navigation light and also want a separate docking flood without adding another housing on the hardtop or cabin.
Use on board
The white flood is for docking, picking up mooring lines, and lighting up the bow area when coming alongside. The navigation function is for running at night or in reduced visibility, with the port and starboard colors matched to the correct side of the vessel.
