Overview
The Garmin 010-12833-00 is a handheld remote control for Garmin Force trolling motors, letting you steer, set speed, and run key functions from anywhere on the boat.
It uses a sunlight-visible transflective MIP display with 240 x 240 resolution and supports point-and-go gesture steering once the built-in compass is calibrated. Power comes from two AA batteries (not included) with about 240 hours of typical use, and the housing carries an IPX7 water rating for incidental immersion.
The remote measures 152 x 52 x 32 mm and weighs 109 g without batteries, so it is easy to keep at the helm or on your person. If it goes overboard, it floats, and the lanyard slot gives you a simple way to tether it when conditions get sloppy.
Key features
- Compatible with Force and Force Kraken trolling motors for wireless control over 2.4 GHz.
- Point-and-go gesture steering supported by an on-remote electronic compass with calibration.
- Sunlight-visible transflective MIP display with 240 x 240 resolution for easy reading in open cockpits.
- Runs on two AA batteries (not included) with about 240 hours of typical use.
- IPX7 water rating for incidental immersion up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes, and the remote floats if dropped overboard.
- User-programmable keys that can be assigned for chartplotter control.
- Glass-filled nylon construction; 152 x 52 x 32 mm size and 109 g weight without batteries.
- Compass-safe distance of 15 cm (6 in.) for stowage near magnetic compasses.
Compatibility and fit
This remote is used as a replacement or spare for Garmin Force trolling motor systems, including Force Kraken. Initial pairing is done close to the trolling motor display panel, then the remote is linked for normal use.
Installation and setup
The battery compartment is accessed with the D-ring on the back cover; install two AA cells and observe polarity. Lithium AA batteries are recommended for best results.
Gesture steering relies on accurate compass calibration. Calibrate outdoors and away from sources of magnetic interference, and repeat calibration if gesture response starts to drift.
Use on board
This is a good fit for anglers and skippers who move between the bow, cockpit, and helm and still want quick access to trolling motor control. The IPX7 rating, floating body, and tether point help when the remote is used around spray, washdowns, and rough water.
Environmental notes
Operating temperature range is -15 to 55°C (5 to 131°F), with storage down to -40°C (-40°F). After heavy spray, a quick fresh-water rinse and dry helps keep buttons and seals working smoothly.
