Overview
This Attwood Marine nylon boat cleat is a lightweight cleat for securing dock lines, fender lines, tender lines, and other light-duty tie-off points on small boats and docks. It uses a black nylon body that resists corrosion and UV exposure, making it a practical choice for wet deck areas where metal hardware is not required.
The cleat is pre-drilled with two mounting holes, so installation is straightforward on a deck, gunwale, dock edge, or other properly backed mounting surface. The range covers 5", 6-1/2", and 8" lengths, with the fastener size changing by cleat size.
Key features
- Black nylon construction helps avoid corrosion in wet marine areas.
- UV-resistant material suits exposed deck and dock installations.
- Two pre-drilled mounting holes keep layout simple during installation.
- Available in three lengths to match different line sizes and mounting spaces.
- Open-base cleat form works for common light-duty tie-off points on small boats and docks.
Variants
This cleat is offered in multiple lengths so the mounting footprint and line-handling size can be matched to the location on board.
The length and required fastener size vary by configuration. The black nylon construction, UV resistance, corrosion-resistant body, and two-hole mounting layout are consistent across the listed variants.
- 12111L3: 5" long with two #12 fasteners. This size fits smaller tie-off points where space is limited, such as compact deck areas, small craft, and dockside accessory mounting locations.
- 12113L3: 6-1/2" long with two #12 fasteners. This mid-size option gives more line contact area while still using #12 mounting hardware.
- 12115L3: 8" long with two 1/4" fasteners. This larger size gives more working room for dock lines and uses larger mounting hardware for the bigger cleat footprint.
Installation and fit
Mount the cleat only on a surface that can handle the expected line load, with suitable backing or reinforcement where needed. Fasteners are selected by cleat size, so the mounting surface should be drilled for the correct hardware before bedding and final tightening.
For deck and dock use, position the cleat so lines can lead cleanly without rubbing sharp edges or crossing traffic areas. On fiberglass, aluminum, or wood surfaces, a properly sealed installation helps keep water out of the core or structure below the mounting point.
Use on board
This nylon cleat is a good match for boaters who need a simple tie-off point for light-duty line handling without adding metal hardware. It works well for small boats, utility craft, tenders, and docks where corrosion resistance, low weight, and easy installation matter more than heavy-duty mooring hardware.
