Overview
The Attwood Marine SoftSide is a family of dock fenders made for fixed protection along dock corners, straight edges, posts, and longer contact points where a boat may rub while tying up or coming alongside. The range uses a lightweight polymeric material that is soft against the hull and resists UV exposure, chalking, splitting, and crushing.
These fenders are a practical fit for slips, private docks, marina fingers, swim rafts, and exposed dock edges where inflatable boat fenders are not always in the right place. Depending on the configuration, the range covers 90° corners, straight dock faces, round corner protection, slide-on post use, and a 45-inch long-edge option for wider contact areas.
Key features
- SoftSide construction helps protect gelcoat and painted hull surfaces when the boat moves against the dock.
- Lightweight polymeric material resists UV, chalking, splitting, and crushing in outdoor marine use.
- One-piece construction avoids air valves, so there is no inflation to check and no valve to leak.
- Ribbed sides help limit rolling contact against the hull during docking and mooring.
- Multiple shapes cover common dock protection points, including 90° corners, straight edges, posts, round corners, and long dock edges.
- Pre-formed mounting holes on most configurations support straightforward installation on wood or aluminum docks.
Variants
The SoftSide range is offered in several dock-protection configurations so the fender can match the contact point on the dock rather than forcing one shape to do every job.
The main differences are fender shape, dimensions, and the way each piece mounts or fits. The shared purpose across the range is fixed dock protection for hull contact during docking, tying up, and light movement in the slip.
- 93531-1: Corner dock fender, 11-3/4" x 11-3/4" x 4-1/2", fits a 90° angle with four 5/16" mounting holes. This format protects square dock corners where the bow, quarter, or rub rail may make contact during approach.
- 93532-1: Straight-edge dock fender, 18" x 3-1/2" x 4-1/2", with three 5/16" mounting holes. This version suits shorter straight sections along a dock face where the boat needs a fixed cushion at a known contact point.
- 93533-1: Slide-on post dock fender, 7" diameter x 15" height, fits up to a 2-3/8" outside diameter post. This style wraps dock-post contact areas without requiring the same flat mounting surface as an edge-mounted fender.
- 93534-1: Round corner dock fender, 7" diameter x 15" height, fits a 90° angle with four 5/16" mounting holes. The rounded form gives corner protection where a broader curved surface is preferred over a square corner pad.
- 93537-1: Long-edge dock fender, 45" x 6" x 4", with six 5/16" mounting holes. The longer profile covers a wider dock-face area for slips or tie-up points where hull contact may happen over more than one small spot.
Installation and fit
Match the fender shape to the part of the dock that normally contacts the boat. Corner models belong on 90° edges, the straight-edge models mount along flat dock faces, and the post version fits round posts up to 2-3/8" outside diameter.
Before drilling, hold the fender in the actual contact area and check where the hull, rub rail, or swim platform meets the dock at normal tide and load conditions. Use fasteners suitable for the dock material and the local marine environment.
Use cases on board
This range is a good match for boat owners who want fixed dock protection that stays in place between trips. It is especially useful for repeat docking at the same slip, for exposed corners near narrow approaches, and for docks used by family members or guests who may not always place portable fenders in the same position.
For saltwater slips or docks with heavy sun exposure, the UV-resistant polymeric material helps keep the fender suitable for long-term outdoor placement with normal rinsing and inspection.
