Overview
The Vimar Plana Series is a 1-module USB supply unit range for built-in onboard charging points. It takes 120-240 V~ 50/60 Hz AC input and fits the Plana modular format, so it belongs on an AC circuit with the correct mounting support rather than on a direct 12V or 24V DC feed.
Across the range, the charging side changes to suit different devices and cable types: single USB-A or single USB-C versions at 5 V 1.5 A, USB-A plus USB-C versions at 12 W or 15 W, dual USB-C at 15 W, and a single USB-C version with 25 W Power Delivery. That gives you a built-in charging point for phones and smaller electronics, while the higher-output USB-C option also covers tablets, cameras, and some USB-C laptops.
Key features
- 1-module format for Vimar Plana installations where panel space is limited.
- 120-240 V~ 50/60 Hz AC input for use on shore-power or inverter-fed AC circuits.
- Available with 1 USB-A, 1 USB-C, 1 USB-A plus 1 USB-C, or 2 USB-C ports depending on version.
- Charging output varies by model from 5 V 1.5 A to 12 W, 15 W at 5 V 3 A, and 25 W USB-C Power Delivery.
- Offered in white and silver finishes to match existing Plana trim.
- The 25W USB-C PD version lists a minimum built-in box depth of 36 mm.
Variants
This range is offered in multiple configurations that change the port layout, charging output, and finish while keeping the same Plana 1-module format and 120-240 V~ 50/60 Hz input.
The options include white and silver versions, with single-port USB-A and USB-C models, mixed USB-A plus USB-C models, dual USB-C models, and a 25 W USB-C PD model. In practical use, that means the range covers older USB-A charging leads, newer USB-C cabling, and locations where two devices may need to charge at the same time.
Installation and setup
On a boat, this type of unit makes the most sense in protected interior spaces such as cabins, saloons, berth areas, chart tables, and enclosed helm panels. It is a built-in AC device, not a surface charger and not a replacement for a 12V accessory socket.
Before ordering, check that the mounting position matches the Plana 1-module format and that there is enough clearance behind the panel for the exact version you plan to install. Where space is tight, depth matters more on the higher-output models. The 25W USB-C PD version lists a device depth of 46.5 mm.
Use on board
This range works well for refits and new builds that want fixed USB charging points without giving up much switch-panel space. The lower-output versions are a straightforward fit for phones, headsets, and smaller electronics, while the 15W and 25W versions are better suited to tablets and other USB-C devices that draw more power during daily use.
