Overview
The Raymarine E26008 is a low-profile thru-hull speed and water temperature transducer for Raymarine analog instrument systems. It is the ST300/P371 Shorty style sensor, made for boats where space below the sole or under floorboards is tight.
The P371 housing sits nearly flush against the hull, with only 5 mm (3/16 in) extending outside the hull to help limit drag and water disturbance around the paddlewheel. The housing height is 75 mm (2.96 in), and the installation area needs about 153 mm (6 in) of headroom, which makes this unit useful on sailboats and powerboats where a standard thru-hull sensor may be too tall.
This transducer measures speed through water and water temperature, then feeds that data to compatible Raymarine instruments through a 10 m (33 ft) cable with ISO spade connectors. It is a practical replacement or upgrade part for owners maintaining Raymarine instrument displays that rely on an analog speed and temperature input.
Key features
- Low-profile P371 thru-hull housing extends only 5 mm (3/16 in) outside the hull to reduce drag around the sensor area.
- Shorty housing height of 75 mm (2.96 in) helps it fit in tight spaces below floorboards or in shallow bilge areas.
- Right-angle cable exit saves headroom and helps protect the cable path in areas where gear or feet may contact the sensor.
- Self-closing water valve helps reduce water flow into the boat when the insert is removed for cleaning or service.
- Paddlewheel cavity has side fins that help improve speed accuracy when water flow crosses the hull at an angle.
- 10 m (33 ft) cable with ISO spade connectors supports installation runs to compatible Raymarine analog instruments.
- Works with Raymarine i40, i50, ST40, ST60, ST60+, iTC-5 and other compatible analog instrument systems.
- ABYC H-27 compliant thru-hull housing for a cleaner installation in a marine through-hull application.
Installation and setup
This is a through-hull transducer, so installation requires access inside the hull and a proper 2 in (51 mm) cutout. The sensor should be placed where it has clean water flow while underway, away from turbulence caused by strakes, through-hulls, propeller wash, or lifting points.
The low headroom and right-angle cable exit make it easier to install in compact bilge spaces, but the location still needs enough working room to remove the insert for cleaning. A careful dry fit before bedding the housing helps confirm cable routing, service access, and hull clearance.
Compatibility and fit
This transducer is intended for Raymarine instrument systems that accept an analog speed and temperature transducer input. It is commonly used with Raymarine i40, i50, ST40, ST60, ST60+ and iTC-5 systems, and it suits installations where speed through water is needed for sailing performance, trip logging, current comparison, or basic instrument data.
The plastic housing is suitable for fiberglass and metal hulls. Before ordering, match the existing instrument connection, available cable route, hull material, and thru-hull size to the vessel, especially when replacing an older speed sensor already installed in the boat.
Maintenance and care
Like any paddlewheel speed transducer, this unit needs occasional cleaning to keep marine growth, slime, and debris from slowing the wheel. The retractable insert and self-closing valve make routine service more manageable while the boat is in the water, though normal care should still be taken whenever the insert is removed.
This transducer is a good match for owners of cruising sailboats and powerboats who want dependable speed and temperature data without adding a bulky fitting below the hull. It is especially useful where the installation space is limited but regular access for paddlewheel cleaning is still available.
