Overview
The Lopolight 301-105ST-PRO-I is a 3 nautical mile (3 nm), 135 degree white double stern navigation light with a built-in de-icing function for vessels over 50 m.
It runs on 20-32 VDC and draws 2 W in normal operation, with a higher draw when de-icing is active (19 W with the light on). The assembly is rated IP68 for stern mounting where spray, washdowns, and vibration are part of daily use.
The body measures Ø92.5 mm x 125.5 mm (Ø3.6 in x 4.9 in) and mounts horizontally on the 400-037 POM base with a side cable direction. Operating temperature is rated from -60 C to 55 C for cold-weather routes where icing is a real concern.
Key features
- 3 nm visibility and 135 degree stern sector in white, with intensity greater than 15 cd
- Built-in de-icing function for operation in icing conditions
- IP68-rated assembly with horizontal mounting on the 400-037 POM base
- 20-32 VDC input; 2 W normal draw and 19 W with de-icing mode active (light on)
- Aluminum housing with a 50µ black hard coat anodized finish, PMMA lens, and A4 stainless hardware
- Approved to COLREG72, EN14744, IEC 60945, IACS E10, USCG, ABS, M.E.D., DNV, LR
- Side cable direction with a plug connector for serviceable removal
Compatibility and fit
This is a stern light intended for installations that call for 3 nm visibility and is listed for vessels over 50 m. Before ordering, confirm your required stern light sector and range, and make sure the mounting position provides an unobstructed 135 degree arc.
Installation and setup
Mount the light at the stern where it has clear sightlines across the required sector and where the housing will not be shadowed by rails, antennas, or tow gear. The base is intended for horizontal mounting, and the side cable direction helps keep the cable run tidy along the transom or aft superstructure.
The cable gland interface is intended for cable diameters in the 7-13 mm range. Route the cable to avoid chafe, support it near the entry point, and seal any deck or bulkhead penetrations per your vessel standard.
Electrical and system integration
Plan this light into a 24 V DC distribution since the operating range is 20-32 VDC. Follow normal navigation-light wiring practice for circuit protection and voltage drop, and size conductors accordingly; the minimum feed wire gauge is 1.5 mm2 (AWG 18).
Materials and corrosion resistance
The housing uses hard coat anodized aluminum with a 50µ black finish, paired with a PMMA lens and A4 stainless screws. With an IP68 rating, it is suited to the wet, salty end of the boat and routine washdowns when installed with proper sealing at cable entries and penetrations.
Use cases on board
This light is a good match for commercial ships, larger yachts, and work vessels that operate in freezing spray and need a stern light that stays functional when ice starts forming. It also fits high-latitude runs and winter operations where a de-icing function helps reduce manual clearing during watch.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt residue from the lens and housing during routine washdowns and check fasteners after initial sea time, then at regular service intervals. Inspect the cable run and connector for chafe and corrosion, and keep sealing surfaces clean whenever the light is removed and reinstalled.
