Overview
The Vimar Eikon 21617 is a 7-module mounting frame range for 6/7-module flush-mounted boxes, covering the screw-fixed frame and its matching transparent protection cover. It works within the Eikon modular format, with inserts mounted from the front side and the frame able to be installed horizontally or vertically.
On board, this is the hardware behind a clean flush installation when a vessel uses Vimar Eikon modules in interior switch banks or service panels. The frame version is made in thermoplastic, and the cover version matches the same 6/7-module format when the opening needs to stay protected before the final devices and trim are in place.
Key features
- 7-module format for 6/7-module mounting boxes
- Frame version fixes with screws and accepts module inserts from the front side
- Frame can be installed horizontally or vertically to suit panel layout
- Protection-cover version is a transparent cover sized for the matching 6/7-module Eikon frame
- Flush-mounted application only; not for 60 mm round junction boxes, wall ducts, subfloor duct boxes, or 35 mm DIN rail mounting
Variants
This range is offered in two configurations: the mounting frame itself and the matching protection cover for that frame.
The main difference between the variants is the component type. One version is the structural 7-module frame used for the installation, and the other is the transparent cover that fits over a 6/7-module frame. Both follow the same Eikon 6/7-module layout.
- VM21617: Accessory Mounting Frame. This is the 7-module screw-fixed frame used to secure Eikon modular devices in a flush-mounted 6/7-module box.
- VM21617.C: Accessory Protection Cover. This is the transparent cover for a 6/7-module Eikon mounting frame and helps keep the opening shielded during staged installation, finishing work, or service access.
Compatibility and fit
This setup is meant for flush-mounted boxes in the 6/7-module format. It is not the right choice for a 60 mm round box, wall duct, subfloor duct box, or DIN rail installation. On a boat, that makes box format and panel depth worth checking before closing up joinery or refitting switch positions.
Installation and setup
The frame takes inserts from the front, which helps when building out a multi-gang switch area in a cabin bulkhead, galley panel, head compartment, or other protected interior location. Horizontal or vertical orientation gives some flexibility when the panel layout is fixed by existing cutouts or surrounding trim.
The cover variant is useful when the frame is already in place but the final devices or cover plate are not being fitted yet. It keeps the opening tidy and protected while the rest of the electrical work moves forward.
Use on board
This range makes sense for boats already fitted with Vimar Eikon devices or for refit projects that need to keep the same switch format across several positions. It suits interior installations where a flush finish matters and where the mounting box type is already known.
