Overview
The Lumishore 010-04494-00 is a 5 m neon flex strip light that puts out a continuous line of white light (5000 K) for above-deck accent and courtesy lighting. It runs on 12V DC only (10 to 15V DC) and is rated IP68 for wet installs, with fully encapsulated, potted construction that holds up to washdowns.
This is the kind of lighting you tuck into channels and recesses where you want light on surfaces, not bright points in your eyes. The illuminated section measures 12.0 mm x 6.1 mm, so it fits cleanly under gunwales, along cockpit seating, under steps, behind toe-kicks, and in headliners where space is tight.
Power planning is straightforward: the strip draws up to 0.5A per meter (6W per meter). For the full 5 m length, plan for up to 2.5A (about 30W) on a 12V circuit.
Key features
- 5 m (196 in) length, white output at 5000 K for a natural, clean onboard look
- 12V DC only supply range (10 to 15V DC) for standard 12V boat systems
- Up to 0.5A per meter (6W per meter) for accurate circuit sizing
- IP68 ingress protection with fully encapsulated and potted construction
- Spot-free diffuser with 60 LEDs per meter for a smooth, continuous line of light
- UV resistant and salt-spray tested for outdoor, partially covered, and indoor mounting locations
- Cut-to-length in 25 mm steps; seal cut ends before final installation
- On and off control from a simple switch, with dimming and zone control available when paired with an ECLIPSE Command Center
Installation and setup
Lay out the run first and plan where the feed cable will exit. This strip supports bottom or side cable entry, which helps when you are routing through a narrow channel, a headliner void, or a furniture face where you want the wiring hidden.
When you need a custom length, cut in the 25 mm increments and seal the cut end before you mount it permanently. For long cockpit runs, keep your bends gentle and avoid sharp edges or pinch points so the diffuser stays even and the strip is not stressed by vibration.
Wire it like a standard two-wire 12V light. Use the per-meter current draw to choose wire gauge for the run length and to protect the circuit appropriately for the total load.
Compatibility and electrical planning
This strip is for 12V DC systems only. If your boat is primarily 24V, plan on a proper step-down supply to 12V sized for the full run length and any additional zones you may add.
For basic installs, a simple on and off switch works. If you want dimming and zone control, pair it with an ECLIPSE Command Center, which adds control from a smart device or compatible multifunction display, and also supports momentary switch control.
Use cases on board
This strip is a good match for owners who want a clean, continuous light line in places where standard LED tape can look dotted in reflections. Common mounting spots include under-gunwale washes in the cockpit, step and walkway edge lighting, toe-kicks in the cabin, and indirect lighting behind panels or trim.
Maintenance and care
After saltwater use, a quick freshwater rinse helps keep surface salt from building up around the mounting area. Periodically check that the strip remains fully supported along the run and that any sealed cut ends and cable exits stay watertight.
