Overview
The Raymarine Cyclone Pro is a 110 W solid-state open array marine radar for Raymarine Axiom displays, built for vessels that need long-range target awareness, strong target separation, and a cleaner open-array installation. It uses CHIRP pulse compression and beam sharpening technology, with a maximum range scale of 96 Nm and selectable rotation speeds from 12 to 60 rpm.
This radar family is available as complete packs with 3 ft, 4 ft, or 6 ft open arrays, plus a pedestal-only configuration for installations where the array is supplied separately. The system uses a RayNet data connection and a dedicated power connection, and it operates from 12 V dc or 24 V dc vessel systems when used with the VCM100 voltage converter.
For boats that run offshore, fish around birds, work in traffic, or cruise in mixed visibility, Cyclone Pro gives the helm useful tools such as Doppler target tracking, RangeFusion technology, Bird Mode, and ARPA tracking for up to 100 simultaneous targets.
Key features
- 110 W solid-state radar output with performance comparable to a 12 kW magnetron radar.
- Maximum range scale of 96 Nm for long-distance target and weather awareness.
- CHIRP pulse compression and beam sharpening help separate targets and improve detail on the display.
- Available with 3 ft, 4 ft, or 6 ft open arrays, letting the installation match the boat size, mounting position, and desired beamwidth.
- Horizontal beamwidth varies by array length: 2.83 degrees for 3 ft, 1.99 degrees for 4 ft, and 1.32 degrees for 6 ft.
- Doppler target tracking highlights moving targets, with inbound and outbound target movement shown in different colors on compatible displays.
- RangeFusion combines short-range and long-range radar returns into one image for better awareness near the boat and farther out.
- Selectable antenna rotation speeds of 12, 24, 36, 48, and 60 rpm support different navigation, fishing, and close-quarters situations.
- IPX6 waterproof rating, operating temperature range from -25°C to +55°C, and 100 kt wind rating for exposed hardtop, radar arch, and mast installations.
- Compatible with Raymarine Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom Pro, Axiom XL, Axiom 2 Pro, and Axiom 2 XL multifunction displays.
Variants
The Cyclone Pro range is offered in complete radar packs and a pedestal-only configuration. The main differences between the listed configurations are the supplied array length and whether the package includes the open array with the pedestal.
The 3 ft, 4 ft, and 6 ft radar packs include the matching open array and pedestal, a 15 m cable kit, and a VCM100 voltage converter. The pedestal-only configuration includes the Cyclone Pro pedestal without an array.
- T70494: Configuration Pack with 3 ft array length. This pack suits installations where a shorter open array is preferred for available mounting space while keeping Cyclone Pro radar functions.
- T70495: Configuration Pack with 4 ft array length. The 4 ft array gives a narrower horizontal beam than the 3 ft version, which can help with target separation on larger boats.
- T70496: Configuration Pack with 6 ft array length. The 6 ft array has the narrowest horizontal beam in this group, which is useful where the mounting space and vessel size can support the longer antenna.
- E70621: Pedestal Only with no array length. This configuration is for installations where the Cyclone Pro pedestal is required separately and the antenna array is handled as a separate component.
Installation and setup
Cyclone Pro is an open-array radar, so the mounting location needs enough clearance for the rotating antenna and a structure that can support the pedestal and selected array. The pedestal measures 388 mm x 360 mm x 335 mm to the top of the antenna, and the pedestal weight is 16 kg before adding the antenna weight.
A higher mounting position improves line-of-sight radar range, but the scanner should also be placed with crew safety, service access, cable routing, and antenna sweep clearance in mind. The pedestal layout conceals cable connections and uses a built-in cable gland, which helps keep the installation neat on a hardtop, arch, or radar mast.
Electrical and system integration
The radar connects to the display network through RayNet and uses a dedicated power connector. With the VCM100 voltage converter, it supports nominal 12 V dc and 24 V dc systems, with an operating supply range from 10.2 V dc to 31.2 V dc.
Typical power consumption is 95 W, maximum power consumption is 195 W, and standby power consumption is 30 W. Boot-up time is about 40 seconds, and the change from standby to transmit takes less than 5 seconds, which is useful when the radar is kept ready during approaches, traffic zones, or changing weather.
Compatibility and fit
Cyclone Pro is intended for Raymarine Axiom family multifunction displays, including Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom Pro, Axiom XL, Axiom 2 Pro, and Axiom 2 XL models. It is not compatible with older Raymarine e-Series, eS-Series, c-Series, a-Series, E-Series, C-Series, G-Series, or Element displays.
The selected array length affects both physical fit and radar beamwidth. The 3 ft antenna is 1031 mm long and weighs 7 kg, the 4 ft antenna is 1336 mm long and weighs 9 kg, and the 6 ft antenna is 1945 mm long and weighs 12 kg.
Use cases on board
This radar is a strong match for offshore fishing boats, cruising powerboats, and larger vessels that need open-array performance with modern Raymarine displays. Bird Mode is useful for anglers looking for surface activity, while Doppler and ARPA target tracking help during runs through busy channels, harbor entrances, and shipping traffic.
It can also be used as a weather-awareness tool on longer passages, since marine radar can show rain cells and squalls at distance when the scanner has a clear line of sight.
Maintenance and care
After saltwater exposure, rinse the scanner and pedestal with fresh water as part of normal deck washdown practice. Keep the antenna sweep area clear, inspect mounting hardware and cable exits during routine service, and keep the connected Raymarine display system software current for the best radar integration.
