Overview
The Attwood Marine Fuel Tank Strap Set is a tie-down kit for securing portable marine fuel tanks so they stay put while the boat is underway, at the dock, or stored on the trailer. The range covers 48-inch straps for 3-6 gallon tanks and 72-inch straps for 12 gallon tanks, giving small outboards, tenders, fishing boats, and utility craft a simple way to keep fuel tanks from sliding around the cockpit, deck, or aft storage area.
Each set uses a 1-inch-wide white nylon web strap with a zinc-plated carbon steel snap and quick-release buckle. The strap runs through metal footman loops and tightens around the tank, so the installation stays straightforward and the tank can still be released when it needs to be removed for refueling, cleaning, or winter storage.
Key features
- Made for portable marine fuel tanks, with strap lengths matched to common 3-6 gallon and 12 gallon tank sizes.
- 1-inch-wide white nylon web strap gives the tank a secure hold without a bulky mounting system.
- Zinc-plated carbon steel snap and quick-release buckle allow the strap to be tightened, buckled, and released without tools.
- Metal footman securing loops create fixed anchor points for the strap on a deck, cockpit floor, locker base, or other suitable mounting surface.
- Mounting screws are included for installing the footman loops.
- Useful for keeping a portable fuel tank from shifting during turns, chop, trailering, or routine dockside handling.
Variants
This fuel tank strap set is offered in two configurations based on strap length and the gallon range of the tank it is meant to secure.
The strap length and tank capacity range change by variant. Both configurations use a 1-inch-wide white nylon web strap with a zinc-plated carbon steel snap, quick-release buckle, metal footman securing loops, and mounting screws.
- 11512-3: 72-inch long strap for 12 gallon tanks. This version gives the extra length needed to wrap and secure a larger portable fuel tank in a cockpit, aft deck area, or fuel storage location.
- 11526-3: 48-inch long strap for 3-6 gallon tanks. This shorter version suits smaller portable tanks used with tenders, small fishing boats, auxiliary outboards, and compact deck layouts.
What’s included
- One white nylon web strap with snap and quick-release buckle
- Two metal footman securing loops
- Mounting screws for the footman loops
Installation and use
Mount the footman loops to a suitable surface where the tank can sit flat and where the strap can pull evenly across the tank. Once the loops are installed, run the strap through the footman openings, position the tank, tighten the webbing, and close the buckle so the tank is held firmly in place.
This type of strap set is a practical fit for boats that use portable fuel tanks instead of a fixed fuel system. It helps keep the tank controlled without making routine tank removal difficult, which matters for small outboards, seasonal boats, rental craft, and boats where fuel tanks are carried only when needed.
Fit and placement
Match the variant to the tank size and available mounting area before installation. The 72-inch set is sized for 12 gallon tanks, while the 48-inch set is sized for 3-6 gallon tanks. Check that the strap path is clear of fuel fittings, vent caps, hoses, and sharp edges, and mount the tank where it remains accessible for inspection and refueling.
