Overview
The Vimar VM14904 is an IP55 4-module surface mounting box used to install Vimar Eikon, Arké, or Plana devices on a bulkhead or panel when you do not have a recessed wall box. The grey plastic enclosure measures 13.6 x 8.3 x 6.6 cm, so it is straightforward to plan clearance for wiring and the finished footprint on board.
This format is commonly used for switch groups, small control stations, and protected outlets in areas that see occasional spray or washdowns. It is not meant for locations that can be submerged; keeping the seal depends on using the correct front components for the chosen series and keeping cable entries properly sealed.
Key features
- IP55 enclosure format for protected installations in damp and exposed areas on board when assembled and sealed correctly
- 4-module (4M) capacity for Vimar Eikon, Arké, and Plana series mechanisms and plates
- Surface-mount layout for refits and for panels where cutting a recessed box is not practical
- Plastic housing in grey, with full insulating materials for a properly isolated installation
- Overall dimensions: 13.6 x 8.3 x 6.6 cm
- Approximate unit weight: 150 g
Compatibility and fit
This enclosure is sized for 4-module layouts within the Vimar Eikon, Arké, and Plana ranges. Match it with the correct 4M mounting frames and cover plates from the same series to maintain proper alignment and a clean seal at the front.
Installation and sealing
Mount the box to a flat, solid surface where the front plate can sit flush without rocking. Route conductors with enough slack to avoid strain on terminals, and keep bends gentle so the device sits squarely in the opening. For wet-area use, take care with cable entry points and any penetrations through the mounting surface, since those details are what typically make or break the IP55 performance in real boat installs.
Use on board
This style of surface box is a good match for helm and cockpit switch panels under a hardtop, utility areas, and lockers that get damp air and occasional splashes. It also works well in refits where you want a protected mounting point without opening up the structure behind a liner or insulated panel.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt residue off the outside during routine washdowns and check the front seal periodically, especially after heavy vibration or repeated access for wiring changes. If you ever remove the front plate, re-seat it carefully so the sealing surfaces stay clean and even.
