Overview

The Vimar Idea is a 1-pole normally closed push button rated at 16 A and 250 V~, offered here in ivory or gray. It is a built-in insert for the Vimar Idea modular system, with snap-in fixing, a thermoplastic body with a matte finish, and IP40 protection for protected interior mounting points.

In use, this is a momentary break-contact button, which means the circuit is closed at rest and opens while the button is pressed. The front includes a marking area, the module width is 24.8 mm, and there is no built-in illumination or feedback contact. On board, that makes it a better fit for cabins, enclosed panels, and other dry interior spaces than for exposed helm or deck locations.

Variants

This product is offered in two color configurations within the same Idea push-button family.

The change between the variants is the front color. Both versions keep the same 1P NC operating format, 16 A and 250 V~ rating, non-illuminated design, and IP40 protection. The published external dimensions are not identical between the two part numbers, so clearance behind the mounting point should be checked against the selected code.

• VM16104.B, Color Ivory. The front is an ivory finish listed as RAL 9001 equivalent, which works well with light switch panels and cream-toned interior trim.
• VM16104, Color Gray. The front is a gray finish listed as RAL 7015 equivalent, which gives stronger contrast on darker panel layouts.

Compatibility and fit

This is a modular device from the Vimar Idea range, so it should be paired with the correct Idea support and matching trim components. It is not a standalone weatherproof switch for direct mounting into an exposed panel opening.

For boat refits, it makes the most sense where the vessel already uses Vimar Idea hardware or where the panel is being built around that modular system. Because the protection level is IP40, it belongs in protected interior spaces such as cabin panels, enclosed service lockers, or sheltered bulkheads rather than areas that see washdowns or direct spray.

Installation and setup

The contact format matters before ordering. A normally closed push button behaves differently from the more common normally open style, so the circuit needs to be set up for a break-contact input. That is especially important when replacing an existing push button in a control circuit that relies on NC operation.

The 250 V~ rating points to mains AC switching duties rather than typical 12 V or 24 V DC helm switching. It is a good match for buyers who need a Vimar Idea insert with a plain front, a label field, and momentary NC operation in a protected onboard location.
