Overview

The Vimar Protected & Watertight Series 3 Modules IP40 Surface Enclosure is a surface-mount box for three 8000 standard modules. It is made in plastic with full insulation, uses a surface-mounted format, and measures 100 x 83 x 56 mm.

This enclosure is meant for installations where you need a neat external mounting point for compatible Vimar 8000 devices without cutting a recess into the panel or bulkhead. The housing is rated IP40 and includes entries for flexible cables as well as plain or corrugated conduits, which makes it practical for controlled wiring runs in covered onboard spaces and other protected installations.

Variants

This enclosure is offered in two finish options within the same 3-module surface-mount format.

Across both variants, the enclosure size, module capacity, surface-mount layout, and fit for 8000 standard modules stay the same. The visible difference between the two versions is the enclosure color.

• VM13031: Grey finish in RAL 7035. This works well where the enclosure needs to blend with light grey switchgear, technical panels, or utility spaces.
• VM13031.A: Ivory finish. This suits interiors that already use ivory devices or trim and keeps the installation visually consistent.

Installation and fit

This box is intended for surface installation, so it makes sense where panel depth is limited or where a flush box is not practical. Before ordering, check that your setup uses Vimar 8000 standard modules, since that is the module format this enclosure is built around.

On a boat, this style of enclosure is better suited to protected interior positions such as cabins, enclosed helm areas, lockers, and service spaces rather than open deck locations exposed to spray or washdowns. The IP40 protection level is obtained when the enclosure is fitted with IP40 devices, closed-front devices, or the appropriate module covers.

Use on board

This enclosure is a good match for refit work and new installations that need a tidy surface-mounted point for switches or control devices in covered areas. It also helps when the finish surface should stay intact and the wiring run needs a straightforward entry path from cable or conduit.
