Overview
The Vimar Plana Series is a 14-module cover plate for larger switch and outlet groups in a protected interior installation. It uses a 14-module (7+7) layout, measures 206 x 152 x 11 mm, and can be mounted horizontally or vertically, which helps when panel space on board needs a wider finished opening.
This plate is made from thermoplastic, is halogen-free, and has a glossy face with label space. The IP00 rating matters here: it belongs in enclosed cabin, saloon, galley, or protected helm areas where the electrical assembly is already sheltered from spray, washdowns, and direct weather.
For boat refits and new interior panels, this type of cover plate is a good match when several lighting controls, outlets, or service switches are grouped together and you want a clean finished surround that matches the Vimar Plana format.
Key features
- 14-module (7+7) format for larger switch and outlet layouts
- Horizontal or vertical mounting to suit the way the panel is arranged
- 206 x 152 x 11 mm overall size
- Technopolymer construction with halogen-free material and a glossy surface
- Label space on the plate for circuit or function identification
- IP00 rating for protected interior locations, not exposed exterior mounting points
Variants
This range is offered in Black, Ivory, Matt Nickel, Matt Silver, Techno Silver, and White. Across the listed variants, the common format is a 14-module (7+7) cover plate with horizontal or vertical mounting, glossy finish, technopolymer construction, label space, and IP00 protection.
What changes across the range is mainly the color and surface treatment, with untreated and lacquered finishes listed depending on the version. The Black, Ivory, White, Matt Silver, and Matt Nickel versions are listed for built-in installation and also for wall duct and subfloor box use, while the Techno Silver version is listed for built-in installation with snap fixing and without wall duct or subfloor box compatibility.
Installation and fit
Before ordering, check that the device layout behind the plate is the matching Vimar Plana 14-module format. This plate is meant to finish the visible face of the installation, so the underlying support and insert arrangement need to match the same series and module count.
On a boat, the practical check is not just module count but also mounting location. A plate with IP00 protection makes sense inside accommodation spaces and protected control panels, but it is not the right choice for exposed deck stations, open flybridge panels, or any location that sees regular spray.
Use on board
This cover plate suits interior switch banks, cabin lighting panels, berth-area controls, galley outlet groups, and other wider multi-function panels where a clean finished surround matters. It makes the most sense for builders and refit owners using Vimar Plana hardware in enclosed spaces and wanting a consistent look across the boat's interior electrical points.
