The Vimar Idea is a modular RJ12 phone socket outlet for flush-mounted telephone and UAE/IAE (ISDN) communication points. It uses a 6-position 6-conductor (6/6) connection with screw terminals, occupies 1 module, and is rated IP20.

The insert measures 24.8 x 50.1 x 43.4 mm and is made from halogen-free thermoplastic with a matt finish. It is a straightforward fit for interior installations that already use the Idea modular format and need a matching communication outlet without extra covers or shutters.

For onboard use, this type of outlet belongs in dry interior spaces such as cabins, offices, or service areas rather than exposed locations. The IP20 construction and open front style make it better suited to protected panels than to areas that see spray, washdowns, or heavy dust.

Variants

This outlet is offered in two color configurations within the same product family.

Across both variants, the connection format, mounting method, module size, IP rating, and overall dimensions stay the same. The change is the visible front color.

• VM16336: Color Gray. This version keeps the outlet visually aligned with darker Idea trims and surrounding devices.
• VM16336.B: Color Ivory. This version gives the outlet a lighter appearance for installations built around ivory or other light-toned trim.

Compatibility and fit

This insert is part of the Vimar Idea range and uses a flush-mounted arrangement. Fit depends on having the matching modular support and cover components for the Idea system, along with enough box depth for the 43.4 mm body.

The communication format is intended for UAE/IAE (ISDN) use, so it suits installations that still use this style of telephone outlet and wiring layout. It makes sense for refits or replacement work where an existing Idea communication point needs to stay consistent in both appearance and format.

Installation and setup

Termination is by screw terminal, which suits fixed wiring where conductors need a secure mechanical connection. The insert does not include a support ring, dust cover, hinged lid, imprint, or strain relief, so the finished result depends on the surrounding Idea hardware and on placing the outlet where the face will stay protected during normal use.
